Residents to perform tribute to manager Ron Washington as community will cheer on the hometown team, learn insider's view of pro baseball from Rangers icon
DALLAS, TX---Last October, residents of Highland Springs, the Erickson Living retirement community in North Dallas, cheered on the Texas Rangers' World Series run with the debut of The Wash Dance.
Community Resources Manager Barbara Blachly led residents in honor of two-time AL pennant-winning Rangers manager Ron Washington. With a dugout lean here, a fist pump there, The Wash Dance is all about the fun of rooting for the Rangers.
With the hometown team currently in first place in the AL West and sporting the best record in baseball, the residents of Highland Springs will don their red and blue to Rally for the Rangers on Tuesday, May 1st at 11am.
Highland Springs is honored to welcome special guest Joe Macko, the goodwill ambassador for the Rangers. In professional baseball for 54 years, Mr. Macko has a lifetime batting average of .272 with 306 home runs. He served as business manager for the Rangers upon their arrival to Texas in 1972 and became equipment manager from 1973 through 2001.
Mr. Macko will discuss his baseball career...and then Ms. Blachly, along with residents, will lead the 2012 edition of The Wash Dance with some new moves.
