Team Highland Springs Gives Back to Plano Community

Dallas, Texas--The employees of Highland Springs continued their tradition of giving back to the greater community during a recent service project.

On February 8, a group of 18 staff members volunteered their time and talent at Minnie’s Food Pantry , a non-profit, 501 (c-3) organization that assists people in need in Plano and beyond.

Under the guidance of the dedicated staff of Minnie’s, Team Highland Springs helped 75 families and 184 individuals, served 5,100 pounds of food, provided 4,250 meals, sorted 3 pallets and prepared 152 boxes.

But it was the feeling of being a good neighbor that made the difference for those who participated.

“During our morning shift, we actually met two residents of Highland Springs who are long-time volunteers at Minnie’s Food Pantry.  It was gratifying to see the Erickson Living values and mission in action, supporting a worthy cause,” described April Garcia, Human Resources Manager.  “We also enjoyed the interaction with other volunteers and the staff at Minnie’s as we shared information about Highland Springs and learned about their backgrounds as well.”

Sponsored by the Erickson Living Values Team of Highland Springs retirement community, the service project marked the fifth time employees have volunteered at Minnie’s Food Pantry, which will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its founding this April.  More information can be found at https://www.minniesfoodpantry.org.
