Lantern Hill Celebrates Opening of Bistro 1720 and The Crown Bar

October 24, 2019

Lantern Hill, a developed and managed Erickson Living senior living community in New Providence, New Jersey, celebrated the opening of Bistro 1720 and The Crown Bar on October 18. The residential amenities are located in the community's new independent living building, Bell Pavilion.

New Providence Mayor Al Morgan, local dignitaries, President of Overlook Medical Center Alan Lieber, Chief Operating Officer of Overlook Medical Center Lauren Yedvab, special guests, residents, and employees attended the festive event. Guests enjoyed hor's d' oeuvres showcasing foods from the restaurants new menu, sparkling wine, and flavored sparkling water. To accommodate the extensive guest list, Lantern Hill hosted two celebrations with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony during the day.

"Thank you to our corporate partners and Lantern Hill employees for all their help and support in opening this fantastic new restaurant and bar," said Executive Director Craig Karczmer. "These wonderful amenities will be enjoyed by residents and guests for years to come."

The Bistro 1720 menu, curated by Executive Chef Justin Pearsall and Dining Services Director Jason Fernandi, puts a modern take on American bistro classics sure to please any palette. Sample menu items included fig and prosciutto flatbread, pan-seared scallops over wild mushroom and asparagus risotto, lasagna, Osso Bucco, grilled ribeye steak, shrimp tacos, and Ponzu Salmon. Sandwich options like roast turkey, grilled meatloaf, and an Italian sub served with fresh arugula on an herb focaccia continue the theme of modernized classics.

"I wanted to put a modern take on familiar foods, so they seem elevated while remaining nostalgic," Pearsall said. "Because we're located just outside of New York City, our residents expect a creative dining experience to suit a variety of tastes and preferences."

The menu will change throughout the seasons in order to put freshness first. This is part of Lantern Hill's Signature Dining program promise, which embraces fresh, made-to-order, resident-focused menu offerings, executed at the moment of service to deliver an exceptional dining experience.

Lantern Hill now features three distinctive restaurants for its residents and their guests. Chef's Table offers more intimate dining with its softer color pallet and cozy fireplace in Union Square clubhouse. Tall Oaks features a more dramatic dining experience with its open air kitchen located in Union Square clubhouse. Bistro 1720 now adds a more casual dining option to the community.

Lantern Hill is a not-for-profit organization, developed and managed by Erickson Living®. The community is governed by its own board of directors affiliated with National Senior Campuses, who provide independent financial and operational oversight of the community.
