Family Bonds are Strong at Linden Ponds

Father and Daughter enjoy lunch together every week at Linden Ponds

Hingham, MA— Vito Pennacchio moved to Linden Ponds, an Erickson Living community in Hingham, MA, in April, in 2016. He was living in an apartment in Weymouth, and after his wife passed away, he began considering other retirement living options.

"I didn't mind being there, except it was just too big for me alone," Vito says.

Linden Ponds was an easy choice for Vito: His daughter Janet Rourke had been working at the community since 2007, so the whole family was familiar with the worry-free lifestyle that residents enjoy. Vito chose a one-bedroom apartment home on the first floor with a patio, which suits his current lifestyle.

"It's easier to take care of because it's smaller," he says.

In addition to a smaller home, Vito says he was also looking for a retirement community that would give him and his family peace of mind. With an on-site medical center, pharmacy, convenience store and fitness center, as well as a 24-hour security team, four full-service restaurants and professional maintenance staff to handle things like snow removal and appliance repairs, the people at Linden Pond can enjoy a worry-free retirement.

"It's less that [my kids] have to worry about," Vito says. "Having the medical facilities and other support here takes a load off their minds — and that takes a load off of my mind."

Janet currently works as the medical office coordinator at Linden Ponds' on-site medical center. Working at the same community where her dad lives means the two get plenty of quality time together.

"We have an ongoing date for lunch every Thursday, and we get together about every other weekend," Janet says. "My daughters visit him every week to every other week."

Janet says her dad's decision to move to Linden Ponds has, indeed, given her peace of mind. She has recommended the community to many friends who are looking for retirement living options for their own parents.

"Currently, three friends of mine have a parent living here," Janet says. "I tell them that it is a great place, where you know there is the opportunity for your loved one to be very happy. All of my friends' parents who live here are all very outgoing and go on all the trips and go to meetings and join in on all the activities. But even if they did not, there's the peace of mind thing — knowing that security and other employees who notice things and get to know the residents are there for the resident."

"We love seeing families coming together at Linden Ponds," says Sales Director Christine Hansen. "We have other staff who have family members living here along with siblings and many other family combinations.  More great examples of why Linden Ponds is a great place to live and work."

"I am glad he lives here, and glad that I can be there anytime he needs me," she says.
