Maris Grove Answers the Call to Help the Concord Fire Department with $15,000 Donation

GLEN MILLS, PA - In May, the Concordville Fire & Protective Association sent a letter to the surrounding community requesting help. The same department that always answers others in their greatest time of need was looking for support in order to purchase three life-saving medical devices at the cost of $45,000.

Maris Grove answered the call with a $15,000 donation to the Fire & Protection Association. The funds went toward purchasing one of three Lucas Devices; a medical device that automatically performs consistent chest compressions for a long period of time to improve blood flow of victims in cardiac arrest.

“The Concordville Fire & Protective Association selflessly and tirelessly works to save the lives of Concord Township citizens’ every day,” said Maureen Heckler, executive director of Maris Grove. “Donating $15,000 for a medical device that will potentially save the life of one citizen is well worth this investment. We’re proud to donate to an organization that has provided so much for Maris Grove over the last 10 years.”

The Concordville Fire & Protection Association has already outfitted their units with Lucas Devices’ and, on first use, saved the life of a 65-year-old man.

“We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support that Maris Grove has provided over the years,” said Fire Chief Tom Nelling. “We’re fortunate to have such special people come together and raise funds for the betterment of our community.”
