Writing history

Seabrook resident Carol Behrman released her newest novel, Freedom Passage, just in time for the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Set in a fictitious town on the Jersey Shore, the plot follows a young heroine who travels back in time to the days of the Underground Railroad.

Freedom Passage is Carol's 35th book and her first foray into historical fiction. A retired magazine writer and journalism teacher, she's published numerous writing texts along with historical and biographical works.

Now that she lives at Seabrook, Carol can devote more time to her passion. "I have always written," she says. "I guess it's just a part of who I am. I don't think I will ever stop."

Freedom Passage is published by Aerodale Press.
