When downsizing is the right move

Barbara and Paul Greiner design their dream space at Greenspring

"As our family grew during the 62 years we've been married, we kept moving from a smaller house to a larger house," says Barbara Greiner. "Now, at this stage in our lives, we are doing the reverse."

While the Greiners may have downsized to a smaller home, they haven't sacrificed their personal style. "The great thing about Greenspring is that there's really no limit to what you can do to make your home exactly what you want it to be," says Paul Greiner, Barbara's husband.

Unlike many other retirement communities, Greenspring upgrades each apartment home before a new resident moves in. Upgrades can include fresh paint, crown molding, new flooring, carpeting and cabinets. Silestone countertops and stainless steel appliances can turn an ordinary kitchen into a modern space for entertaining.

"Every home looks fresh and brand new," says Danielle Shaurette, Greenspring's custom interior design coordinator. "While a majority of community members are more than delighted with the look of their homes, I also work with people like the Greiners who wish to do even more to make their new apartment a home."

Danielle worked with Barbara and Paul to coordinate window treatments, professionally-designed closets and custom shelving.

Now, the Greiners are enjoying a home designed just for them, by them.
