Selling the house—despite the snowstorm

Friends don't let winter spoil their move to Oak Crest

Lifelong friends Patricia Phelps and Judy Strum weren't going to let a little blizzard stand in the way of their retirement at Oak Crest. 'We had initially planned on moving to Oak Crest in the summer of 2011, and we were just kind of dragging our feet,' says Judy. 'But then we visited the community and heard about the financial incentives Oak Crest was offering, as well as assistance with selling and moving.' The two decided: why wait?

With the help of Erickson Realty and Moving Services, a program designed just for people moving to an Erickson Living community, Judy and Patricia sold their house in Cromwell Valley in just four days—and that was in the middle of a snowstorm!

'It's really astonishing when you think about it,' says Judy. 'We listed our house the first week of March 2010. There was snow on the ground, but that Saturday we ended up with six people requesting appointments.'

The whole experience was much simpler than either Judy or Patricia imagined. Now, they're happily settled in at Oak Crest. 'Everyone is so friendly,' says Judy. 'I have no question whatsoever that we made the right decision.'
