A Worldwide Summer Vacation at Oak Crest For Diversity Celebration

Parkville, Maryland-- More than 200 residents and employees of Oak Crest took a trip around the world on Friday, July 21 during the Erickson Living retirement community’s Annual Diversity and Inclusion Expo in Erickson Hall.

Visited were Scotland, Egypt, Holland & Netherlands, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Cuba, Germany, and Oak Crest’s Jewish Corner, Catholic Community, Protestant Group and Unitarian Universalists.

Parkville, Maryland— When Fefe Mukendi arrived in the United States from the civil war-torn nation of the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2004, a career at Oak Crest was the last thing on her mind.

The very next day, the golf excitement continued more than 3,600 miles away during the Oak Crest Golf Tournament held at Rocky Point Golf Course in eastern Baltimore County. Oak Crest HR Team Volunteers at the Maryland Food Bank

Parkville, Maryland— Residents and employees of Oak Crest give back thousands of hours in volunteer service throughout the year, a tradition that dates back to 1995.

On July 7, the Human Resources Department of the Erickson Living retirement community donated time and hard work to the Maryland Food Bank, the nonprofit hunger relief organization that distributes more than 112,000 meals daily throughout the state.

Mrs. Clippinger brings more than twenty years of experience in the culinary services industry. She began her career with Oak Crest in 2003 as a restaurant manager before rising to assistant dining services director. Previously, she worked with the Aramark Corporation in its Sports and Entertainment Division in management roles at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts and Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland.

Oak Crest Good Guys Win Softball Title

Parkville, Maryland— Behind timely hitting, solid defense and clutch pitching, the Good Guys, the resident softball team at the Parkville-based retirement community, earned a pair of victories to capture the Annual Erickson Living Softball Tournament.

Parkville, Maryland-- For residents of Oak Crest, the nurses of the Erickson Living retirement community provide comfort, compassionate medical care when needed and daily encouragement to achieve health and wellness goals.

That’s why Oak Crest celebrates National Nurses Week throughout May 6-12. This year’s theme, created by the American Nurses Association, is “Nursing: The Balance of Mind, Body and Spirit.”

Oak Crest employs 54 RNs and 49 LPNs. They serve a variety of roles in the community’s continuing care neighborhoods, providing direct care, specialized assessments, educational training, quality assurance, safety skills, managerial leadership and administrative support....

Parkville, Maryland— Oak Crest volunteers are always eager to “Spring Into Action!” Their dedication and spirit were celebrated at the Volunteer Appreciation Brunch on April 26 in Erickson Hall.

More than 300 resident volunteers attended the event, enjoying a delicious meal prepared by the Oak Crest Catering Department. They were entertained by the Helping Up Mission’s Men Choir who provided a lively musical interlude.

Oak Crest Awards Collegiate Scholarships to 31 Employees

Parkville, Maryland-- Oak Crest announced the 31-member Student Scholars Class of 2017 at its 21st Annual Award Ceremony on March 29. The recipients, all members of the Dining Services Department, earned four-year collegiate scholarships in the amount of $5,000.

In 21 years, $2.85 million has been awarded to assist 768 students to advance their collegiate careers, according to Stacey Schiano, Philanthropy Manager for the Erickson Living retirement community, during her campaign report. More than $165,000 was raised during the 2017 campaign, funded primarily through resident contributions.
