PARKVILLE, MD—One by one, they entered Erickson Hall, the large assembly room at Oak Crest retirement community. Even though it was early morning during Thanksgiving week, these fifty residents were ready to roll up their sleeves and play the role of Santa’s helpers. The occasion was the 19th Annual Stocking Stuffing at Oak Crest on November 25th, and in just thirty-four minutes, the volunteers filled 400 stockings with toys, games and school supplies for the benefit of families served by the Baltimore-area Salvation Army. Oak Crest’s Canine Cup IV Celebrates Pet Connections

PARKVILLE, MD—Since its opening in 1995, Oak Crest has been a pet-friendly retirement community. That affectionate connection between residents and their four-legged friends was on display at Canine Cup IV, Oak Crest’s annual dog show, on October 24th.

Sixteen residents and employees entered this year’s event, vying for bragging rights in four categories: Best Costume, Waggiest Tail, Best Trick and the main event, Best In Show.

PARKVILLE, MD---Delmarva Foundation for Medical Care, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Maryland, has awarded a 2013 Committed to Excellence Award to the continuing care neighborhood of Oak Crest, the Erickson Living retirement community.  Oak Crest received the award for the category of pressure ulcer reduction in residents living in the skilled nursing neighborhood. Oak Crest Residents Receive Behind the Scenes Look at Baltimore's Helping Up Mission

PARKVILLE, MD---Every month since 2008, fifty residents of Oak Crest retirement community meet in the Garden Terrace clubhouse to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Following their labor of love, the sandwiches are donated to local charitable organizations that provide support for the homeless and others in need. At eight hundred per month, more than 55,000 sandwiches have been generated by these volunteers since the project began in 2008. Everyone Loves a Parade, Especially Oak Crest's Ilse Harrop

PARKVILLE, MD---Last October, Oak Crest resident Ilse Harrop made the trip to Glen Burnie to receive induction into the Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. Nearly nine months later, that honor got her a prime spot in one of the largest and longest-standing Independence Day events in the Baltimore area.
