Fitch Ratings Affirms “A” Grade to Oak Crest Village, Inc. Bonds

Parkville, Maryland— Oak Crest Village, Inc., (OCV) the Erickson Living retirement community, announced that Fitch Ratings affirmed its “A” grade for the Baltimore County, Maryland series 2007A bonds issued on its behalf.

The report noted Oak Crest’s solid financial profile, above median liquidity and cycle of capital spending as key rating drivers for its “A” affirmation.

Pastor Klein Retires as Oak Crest Pastoral Associate

Parkville, Maryland-- Pastor Elmer Klein retired after more than 20 years as Pastoral Associate for the Protestant Faith Community at Oak Crest.

A reception in his honor was held on August 3 in the community’s Garden Room. Hundreds of residents and friends of all faiths attended to celebrate his service, including Baltimore County Councilman David Marks and State Senator Kathy Klausmeier.

Parkville, Maryland— For businesses, team-building activities take on a variety of forms, from zip-lining in a forest to playing paint ball in a themed-venue. The activities seek to strengthen common purpose, leadership and communication among the team members.

Parkville, Maryland— You just never know who will show up to watch an Orioles game at Oak Crest!

On Wednesday, July 20, the first-place Birds battled the New York Yankees in the Bronx. Back home, residents of the Erickson Living retirement community held a team appreciation night. The event was sponsored by Acorn After Dark, a resident group that hosts and coordinates monthly social activities in the community’s pub.

Multicultural Expo Transforms Oak Crest into the “World In Miniature”

Parkville, Maryland-- On Friday, July 15, Oak Crest transformed its scenic 87-acre campus into a “World in Miniature” during its 4th Annual Multicultural Expo.

With interactive displays that served as “mini-classrooms,” exhibitors showcased their cultures through demonstrations, international cuisine, artifacts, religious symbols, pictures and clothing from residents and employees of the Erickson Living retirement community. Countries represented included Austria, Germany, Greece, Scotland, Holland, Kenya, Cameroon, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Parkville, Maryland— Military service men and women who are now residents of Oak Crest bravely served in the battlefields of Europe and the battleships of the Pacific during World War II.

In Korea and Vietnam, they fought in major encounters of the Cold War. They have been stationed around the world…all in the defense of liberty and freedom.

On Friday, July 1 at 11am, the Greatest Generation and beyond will participate in the Parade of Veterans, an annual tradition to kick-off the July 4 weekend celebration at the Erickson Living retirement community.

Oak Crest Good Guys Capture Softball Title

Parkville, Maryland— Behind timely hitting, solid defense and clutch pitching, the Good Guys, the resident softball team at the Parkville-based retirement community, earned a pair of victories to capture the Annual Erickson Living Softball Tournament.

It was their third consecutive championship. The Good Guys also won the tournament in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015.

The event, held in Catonsville at Charlestown retirement community on June 8, matched residents from Oak Crest, Charlestown, Riderwood (Silver Spring) and Greenspring (northern Virginia) in a two-round format.

Oak Crest Appoints Stacey Schiano as Philanthropy Manager

Parkville, Maryland-- Oak Crest, the Erickson Living retirement community, announced the hiring of Stacey Schiano as the Philanthropy Manager.

Ms. Schiano brings more than eighteen years of fundraising experience to Oak Crest. She has worked with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Alzheimer’s Association, Abilities Network and, most recently, the headquarters of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America.

In her leadership position, she will be responsible for the management of philanthropic activities at Oak Crest, most notably the Benevolent Care Fund and the Student Scholarship Fund.

Evelyn Norton Inspires Pure Joy in the Skies Over Oak Crest

Parkville, Maryland— Evelyn Norton is always looking for ways to have fun.

So when the program coordinator asked residents of the assisted living neighborhood at Oak Crest for ideas about future activities, Ms. Norton shared hers.

Fifteen years ago, she recalled taking part in a kite-flying program held at the Jacksonville Senior Center in Baltimore County.

“I enjoyed it then and thought we could do it here, too,” said Ms. Norton, 92.
