Oak Crest Connects Through a Celebration of Diversity

Parkville, MD—Maryland is aptly nicknamed “American in Miniature” for its geographic features and diverse communities. On Friday, July 10, Oak Crest transformed the “Old Line State” into a “World in Miniature” during its 3rd Annual Multicultural Expo for residents and employees. With interactive displays that served as “mini-classrooms,” fifteen exhibitors showcased an array of cultural, religious, musical, ethnic and culinary contributions from residents and employees of the Erickson Living retirement community. Parkville, MD— Barbara Zorn has been selected as the Resident Member of the Board of Directors for Oak Crest Village, Inc., the governing body for the Erickson Living retirement community located in northeast Baltimore County. A resident of Oak Crest since 2010, she has taken several leadership roles at the community. Ms. Zorn served a two-year term on the Residents Advisory Council as Chair and Vice-Chair, and she is currently a standing member of the Core Committee responsible for Oak Crest’s long-term planning process. Oak Crest Awards Collegiate Scholarships to 38 Employees

Parkville, MD —Oak Crest announced the thirty-eight member Class of 2015 Student Scholars at its 19th Annual Award Ceremony on April 22. The recipients earned four-year collegiate scholarships in the amount of $5,000, a twenty-five percent increase over last year. The program, funded mainly by resident contributions, raised nearly $143,000 in its spring campaign, according to Todd Sullivan, Director of Philanthropy for the Erickson Living retirement community. Spring Is Finally Here! And Now It's Time to Garden at Oak Crest

On Thursday morning, April 16, residents of Oak Crest retirement community in Parkville, MD will be doing spring cleaning for their garden areas, where they will be planting delicious vegetables and beautiful flowers for the season.

This year, they will be joined by students from nearby Rosedale Baptist School for an intergenerational appreciation of gardening.

Together, they’ll be preparing the garden areas for planting, and the residents will share their secret “green thumb” tips with the students. There promises to be many colorful photo ops on a sunny spring morning.

Oak Crest Residents Receive Presidential Volunteer Service Awards

Parkville, MD—Oak Crest, the Erickson Living retirement community, celebrated the generosity of its volunteers with a luncheon on March 27 to recognize those who answer the call to service. 246 residents earned Presidential Volunteer Service Awards for volunteering at least one hundred hours in 2014. They contributed to Baltimore-area programs such as the Maryland Food Bank, Our Daily Bread, Buddy Reading and the Lions Club.
