Wendy Ferris Promoted to Associate Executive Director of Oak Crest

Parkville, Maryland— Oak Crest announced the appointment of Wendy Ferris as the Associate Executive Director.

Since 2014, Mrs. Ferris has served as the Director of General Services at Riderwood, a sister Erickson Living retirement community in Silver Spring, Maryland. Previously, she was as an administrator at Ginger Cove, a retirement community in Annapolis, MD, for eleven years.

In her leadership position, Mrs. Ferris will oversee the General Services Department at the 87-acre campus as well as internal communications. Mrs. Ferris will also work with campus leadership on achieving high resident satisfaction results.

Oak Crest Awards Collegiate Scholarships to 28 Employees

Parkville, Maryland-- Oak Crest announced the 28-member Class of 2016 Student Scholars at its 20th Annual Award Ceremony on April 20.

The recipients, all members of the Dining Services Department, earned four-year collegiate scholarships in the amount of $5,000.

In 20 years, $2.69 million has been awarded to assist 737 students to advance their collegiate careers, according to Mark Roussey, Executive Director for the Erickson Living retirement community. The program is funded primarily through resident contributions.

Parkville, Maryland— Anne Brownson began sewing as a little girl to make her own clothes.

Now a resident of Oak Crest, she sews for a very different reason.

For the last two years, she has been creating hats, dozens of them, for 14 prep cooks, line cooks, the sous chef and the executive chef of the retirement community’s Acorn Pub and Oak Room restaurant.
