Ann France Is a Real Life Santa for Baltimore-Area Children

November 22, 2013

PARKVILLE, MD---When Ann France retired, she was asked by a friend to volunteer with the Baltimore-area Salvation Army.
Twenty-seven years later, she is responsible for bringing Christmas cheer to thousands of children in the area.
Ms. France, a resident of Oak Crest retirement community, is an Executive Board Member of the Baltimore Area Command Women's Auxiliary.  She is gearing up for her signature project to be held on Tuesday, November 26th from 9am-10am.
Under her direction, fifty residents of Oak Crest will fill 400 stockings with toys, games and school supplies for the benefit of Baltimore-area families...in just over an hour!  It is the eighteenth year in which she has led Oak Crest's version of Santa's workshop.
The loaded stockings will be distributed by the Salvation Army at their Hampden center in December.  Oak Crest residents raised over $4,175 for the project in October.  The Dollar Store on Joppa Road in Parkville is a valued community partner.
Watch Ms. France discussing the  importance of supporting the Salvation Army at the 2012 project.
