Parkville, Maryland--Oak Crest honored the 49-member Student Scholars Class of 2019 during its 23rd Annual Award Ceremony on April 24. The recipients, all members of the Dining Services Department, earned four-year collegiate scholarships in the amount of up to $10,000.
In 23 years, $3.1 million has been awarded to assist 864 students to advance their collegiate careers, according to Stacey Schiano, Philanthropy Manager for the continuing care retirement community developed and managed by Erickson Living, during her campaign report. More than $100,000 was raised in 2019, funded primarily through resident contributions.
Additionally, the recipients of a "Working Scholars" award, a one-year scholarship worth $1,750 for college students employed at Oak Crest, were announced. Five employees earned this scholarship in 2019.
Steven Arthur, currently a senior recruiter for the Human Resources Department at Oak Crest and past student scholarship recipient, provided the keynote address.
Ms. Dee Real, the Resident Advisory Council Philanthropy Liaison, spoke on behalf of the 2,100 residents of Oak Crest.
