PARKVILLE, MD---The performers of the Oak Crest Village Chorus and the Edgewood High School Chamber Singers will collaborate on two concerts to be held at the Erickson Living retirement community on the evenings of April 6th and 7th.
The concert will feature individual and combined performances under the direction of Sallie Horner (Oak Crest) and Jeffrey Winfield (Edgewood High School).
While the music promises to be beautiful, the intergenerational connection in advance of the concerts has been inspiring.
Over the last three months, the resident singers of Oak Crest retirement community and the student singers of Edgewood High School have shared letters and rehearsal videos that capture the theme of the concerts: Sing-- For a Lifetime!.
Consider these brief excerpts from their correspondence:
"Singing in Carnegie Hall with the New York Philharmonic was truly a memorable performance in 1945!"
"I was blessed and encouraged and encouraged at any early age to develop my singing. If music is your thing...stick with it! I'm glad I did."
"Singing gave me a new found confidence in myself...singing is life!"
"I've been singing since I was two years old and will never stop. Music is life!"
Their singing has stretched over eight decades, yet their experiences are similar. These performers will share their gifts during two memorable evenings at Oak Crest.
