Oak Crest's 2nd Annual Expo to Put Technology in Hands of Seniors

PARKVILLE, MD---Tablets, smart phones and 3D television aren't just for Generation Y anymore!
According to the Pew Research Center, half of American adults ages 65 and over are on-line...for the first time ever.
Oak Crest retirement community will prove it with its 2nd Annual Tech Expo scheduled for Tuesday, November 13th from 1pm-3pm. 
Residents and guests will receive numerous opportunities to expand their horizons or become even more tech-savvy. 
Representatives from the Towson location of HH Gregg, the electronics and appliance retailer, will be demonstrating the coolest holiday gift-giving tech items like 3D television, tablets and the latest audio systems.
Students from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC)/Erickson School of Aging will showcase Facebook as a way to stay connected to family and friends.
Maryland Relay will demonstrate how their information systems are utilized.
Oak Crest resident organizations like the Computer Club and the MAC Users Group will show off their iPads and digital cameras. 
And employees from various departments like the Oak Crest TV Studio and the Medical Center will offer examples of how technology is utilized in senior living communities.

Seminars will be offered on the half-hour beginning at 1:30pm.  The topics are Digital Photography 101 (Jeffrey Wolk of Wolk Imaging) and Identity Protection (Jeff Karberg, Office of the Maryland Attorney General).
