PARKVILLE, MD---Pamela Spry, RN, BSN, CIC, the quality assurance nurse at Oak Crest retirement community, earned her certification in infection control. Ms. Spry serves the residents of Renaissance Gardens and Renaissance Gardens Terrace, the skilled nursing and assisted living neighborhoods at Oak Crest.
An employee of Oak Crest since August, 2005, Ms. Spry completed the training and testing in May. The campus utilized a Baltimore County Workforce Development Grant to partially fund the training.
The certification is recognized by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (APIC).
"APIC emphasizes prevention, sets standards and creates programs by which infection control programs are evaluated," described Ms. Spry. "As quality assurance nurse, this certification will enable me to better serve our residents and provide our staff with updates on the most current infection-control techniques."
A native of the Philippines, Ms. Spry earned her nursing degree from Davao Doctors' College. She currently resides in Havre de Grace with her family.
