Oak Crest Names Presidential Service Award Recipients

Parkville, Maryland—Oak Crest, the Erickson Living retirement community, celebrated the generosity of its volunteers with a luncheon on April 22 to recognize those who answer the call to service.

267 residents earned Presidential Volunteer Service Awards for volunteering at least 100 hours in 2015.  Their reach extended to Baltimore-area programs such as the Maryland Food Bank, Our Daily Bread and the Salvation Army as well as international charities.

All told, residents and friends of Oak Crest logged more than 90,000 hours of service in 2015.

Special honors were presented to three Volunteers of the Year: Patricia Heitmann (Oak Crest Resident), Julie Mitchell (Adult Volunteer) and Eddie Halpin (Student Volunteer).

Elected officials in attendance were Congressman John Sarbanes, State Senator Kathy Klausmeier, State Delegate Christian Miele and Baltimore County Councilman David Marks.
