July 1st: Oak Crest’s Parade of Veterans to Kick-off Independence Weekend

Parkville, Maryland—Military service men and women who are now residents of Oak Crest bravely served in the battlefields of Europe and the battleships of the Pacific during World War II.

In Korea and Vietnam, they fought in major encounters of the Cold War.  They have been stationed around the world…all in the defense of liberty and freedom.

On Friday, July 1 at 11am, the Greatest Generation and beyond will participate in the Parade of Veterans, an annual tradition to kick-off the July 4 weekend celebration at the Erickson Living retirement community.

The Oak Crest Color Guard, consisting of residents who served in the Army and Navy, will enter the Erickson Conference Center wearing their service uniforms.  A patriotic ceremony, including a musical tribute to each service branch, will follow.

The Chesapeake Harmony Chorus of Sweet Adelines International will lead a sing-a-long of patriotic songs.
