Orioles Bird Watches Game with Residents of Oak Crest

Parkville, Maryland—You just never know who will show up to watch an Orioles game at Oak Crest!

On Wednesday, July 20, the first-place Birds battled the New York Yankees in the Bronx.  Back home, residents of the Erickson Living retirement community held a team appreciation night.  The event was sponsored by Acorn After Dark, a resident group that hosts and coordinates monthly social activities in the community’s pub.

Donning their orange and black Orioles gear, more than 80 residents enjoyed ballpark-style fare, sang “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” and rooted on the team.

In the 2nd inning…a surprise visitor appeared…the Orioles Bird!  Entering the pub to a rousing ovation, the Bird gave high-fives and hugs to residents, posed for photos and led the group in the infamous O-R-I-O-L-E-S cheer.

And while the Orioles lost the game to the dreaded Bronx Bombers, the team went on to win the next game and four more to keep their grip on first place in the American League East.

There is no doubt that the Bird will always have a standing invitation to take in the national pastime and root on the Orioles with residents of Oak Crest.
