Oak Crest Good Guys Win Softball Title

Parkville, Maryland—Behind timely hitting, solid defense and clutch pitching, the Good Guys, the resident softball team at the Parkville-based retirement community, earned a pair of victories to capture the Annual Erickson Living Softball Tournament.

It was their fifth consecutive championship.  The Good Guys also won the tournament in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

“The most impressive part about this year’s tournament is the fact that the Good Guys keep getting better,”  said Temica Hopson, Wellness Manager at Oak Crest who also serves as ‘Team Mom.’   “This is the best I’ve ever seen them play.  And what’s encouraging is that our new players looked like they will be contributors for years to come.”

The event, held in Catonsville at Charlestown retirement community on June 7, matched residents from Oak Crest, Charlestown, Riderwood (Silver Spring) and Greenspring (northern Virginia) in a two-round format.

In the opening game, the Good Guys jumped to an early lead to defeat Greenspring 14-3.
In a highly competitive championship game, Oak Crest defeated Riderwood 10-5.

The Good Guys received vocal, enthusiastic support from residents of Oak Crest, led by Kay Fennell, who made the trip to Charlestown.
