Oak Crest HR Team Volunteers at the Maryland Food Bank

Parkville, Maryland—Residents and employees of Oak Crest give back thousands of hours in volunteer service throughout the year, a tradition that dates back to 1995.  

On July 7, the Human Resources Department of the Erickson Living retirement community donated time and hard work to the Maryland Food Bank, the nonprofit hunger relief organization that distributes more than 112,000 meals daily throughout the state.

The HR team traveled to the Baltimore headquarters on Halethorpe Farms Road for a day of service.  They were responsible for sorting, weighing and packaging a variety of food products that were placed on pallets to be delivered to churches, school pantries and other organizations.

“Following thorough research, we chose the Maryland Food Bank for our summer service project as they partner with more than 1,000 organizations,” stated Laney Lamb, a Human Resources Coordinator at Oak Crest.  “It was rewarding to know the food we packaged went directly to an individual, student or family who otherwise might have gone without a healthy meal.  We look forward to helping again.”
