Silver Spring, Maryland— When it comes to answering the call of duty, residents and employees of Riderwood retirement community have always been able to count on the Prince George’s County Fire Department.

Specifically, Calverton Fire/EMS Station 841 located on nearby Powder Mill Road has partnered with the Riderwood Security Team to provide emergency services when needed at the Erickson Living retirement community’s 120-acre campus.

To show appreciation for that long-standing relationship, employees and vendors associated with Riderwood took on a project of their own.

Silver Spring, Maryland-- The celebration of art holds a special place for residents of Riderwood, the Erickson Living retirement community. Their creativity and professional-level talent will take center stage during A Feast for the Eyes IV, a showcase of original artistry.

Thirty-seven (37) residents and employees will display 173 pieces, including paintings, silk screens, ceramics, glass & woodwork, photography and digital art. Artists will be available during the event to discuss the processes and stories behind their work with attendees.

Riderwood to Host 9th Annual Mah Jongg Tournament on August 11th

Silver Spring, Maryland— Riderwood, the Erickson Living retirement community, will host its 9th Annual Mah Jongg Tournament on Thursday, August 11.

Open to the public, the five-round competition will be governed in accordance with rules established by the National Mah Jongg League. More than 148 Mah Jongg enthusiasts from the mid-Atlantic participated in the 2015 tourney.

Silver Spring, Maryland —Growing up in Oklahoma, his first tennis racket was a T.A. Davis model made of laminated walnut without a leather grip. In high school, he once spent his lunch money—30 cents per day—to buy two tennis balls for a practice.

Silver Spring, Maryland— Riderwood retirement community recently completed a comprehensive series of events and celebrations in February to commemorate African American History Month. Topics ranged from health, music and current events as the resident-led African American History Club coordinated the activities. On February 5, a panel of health care experts provided advice on heart health as the “Go Red Riderwood” program mirrored the American Heart Association’s national Go Red For Women campaign.
