Democratic Club of Riderwood Hosts Pair of State Delegates from District 14

Silver Spring, Maryland— While the 2016 presidential campaign dominates the headlines, state and local issues interest residents of Riderwood, too.

To stay informed, the resident-led Democratic Club of the Erickson Living retirement community hosted State Delegates Eric Luedtke and Pam Queen, each representing Montgomery County in District 14.

The delegates provided an overview of the recently completed 2016 legislative session of the Maryland General Assembly. Delegate Luedtke serves on the Ways and Means Committee, and Delegate Queen is a member of the Judiciary Committee.

Robert Davis Inducted into USPTA Mid-Atlantic Tennis Hall of Fame

Silver Spring, Maryland —Growing up in Oklahoma, his first tennis racket was a T.A. Davis model made of laminated walnut without a leather grip. In high school, he once spent his lunch money—30 cents per day—to buy two tennis balls for a practice.

Now at age 95, Robert Davis earned entry into the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA)/Mid-Atlantic Division Hall of Fame for a lifetime of playing, teaching and growing the game. His induction occurred during a ceremony on March 4 at Woodmont Country Club.

Silver Spring, Maryland— Riderwood retirement community recently completed a comprehensive series of events and celebrations in February to commemorate African American History Month. Topics ranged from health, music and current events as the resident-led African American History Club coordinated the activities. On February 5, a panel of health care experts provided advice on heart health as the “Go Red Riderwood” program mirrored the American Heart Association’s national Go Red For Women campaign.
