New Fitness Center at Riderwood Gives Residents a Jump Start on the Holidays

SILVER SPRING, MD—As the holidays approach chock full of home-cooked dinners and sweet treats, staying in shape is a seasonal challenge that leads to many new year’s resolutions.

This year, residents of Riderwood have a leg up in burning off those extra calories.

On November 20th, the Erickson Living retirement community cut the ribbon for its third fitness center, this one located in the Montgomery Station clubhouse.

The studio features the latest in cardio equipment, including NuSteps, treadmills and an elliptical. Strength training is also included with chest press, lat pulldown, leg extension and leg curl machines...

About twenty residents of the Erickson Living retirement community are in the Art of Ceramics class, and on November 11th, their work was displayed at the group’s 2nd Annual Exhibition 2014. Three-Peat a Rare Feat by Riderwood Employee Softball Team

SILVER SPRING, MD--The Riderwood Penguins, the employee softball team of the Silver Spring-based Erickson Living retirement community, accomplished a feat on July 12th that the Miami Heat could not do in this year's NBA Finals: they pulled off a three-peat.  After winning the annual Erickson Living Employee Softball Tournament in 2012 and 2013, Riderwood completed the rare achievement defeating Baltimore's Oak Crest Ostriches 7-6 in extra innings.  The win came in dramatic fashion as George Mishraky's walk-off single scored Kevin Patterson from second base.  It was an exciting day of softball that concluded with a celebration at home plate followed...

Previously, Mrs. Ferris served as an administrator at Ginger Cove, a retirement community in Annapolis, MD, for eleven years. Riderwood to Host 7th Annual Mah Jongg Tournament on August 7st

SILVER SPRING, MD---Riderwood, the Erickson Living retirement community, will host its 7th Annual Mah Jongg Tournament on Thursday, August 7th. Open to the public, the five-round competition will be governed in accordance with rules established by the National Mah Jongg League.  Approximately 110 Mah Jongg enthusiasts from the mid-Atlantic participated in the 2013 tourney.
