Next year, those casting ballots in Montgomery County and Prince George’s County will be using a new voting system that features a paper trail. They played in the Erickson Living Annual Tennis Tournament on September 9 versus residents from sister communities Ashby Ponds (Ashburn, VA) and Charlestown (Baltimore, MD). Creation of Scroll Offers Insight into Faith, Identity for Riderwood Jewish Community

Silver Spring, MD— Resident members of the Riderwood Jewish Community made a spiritual journey this summer without leaving the 120-acre campus they call home. With the guidance of artist and wife team Barry and Marlene Goldstein, Jewish Community residents created a sculptural representation of a Torah scroll that combined individually created paintings with the written word to express personal aspects of their Jewish identity and faith. Silver Spring, MD— While the month of August is synonymous with relaxation, residents of Riderwood were able to “Jump into Summer, Dive into Opportunities” during a unique event. On August 21, the Erickson Living retirement community hosted its Annual Opportunities Fair, a showcase of sixty (60) resident-run groups and activities coordinated by the Resident Life Department. More than 350 people attended, including new residents who recently moved to the community. Record-Setting Participation Highlights 2015 Mah Jongg Tourney at Riderwood

SILVER SPRING, MD—Enthusiasts traveled from as far as Pennsylvania to make the 8th Annual Riderwood Mah Jongg Tournament a record-setting event. All told, 148 players entered the five-round competition at the Erickson Living retirement community on August 13. It was the largest field in the history of the competition. SILVER SPRING, MD—Riderwood, the Erickson Living retirement community, will host its 8th Annual Mah Jongg Tournament on Thursday, August 13. Open to the public, the five-round competition will be governed in accordance with rules established by the National Mah Jongg League. More than 112 Mah Jongg enthusiasts from the mid-Atlantic participated in the 2014 tourney. Registration will take place at 9:15am with tournament play beginning at 9:45am.
