Erickson Senior Living Names Riderwood the 2012 Recipient of its Excellence in Health Care Quality Award

SILVER SPRING, MD (February 3, 2012) - Erickson Living has named Riderwood the recipient of its 2012 Excellence in Health Care Quality award. The award recognizes the accomplishments of the Riderwood health care team, inclusive of the Renaissance Gardens,  RG, Rehab, Home Health/Home Support, and Medical Center teams.
A recap of Riderwood's 2011 health care's accomplishments follow:
 

  •  The 2011 Home Care Elite named Riderwood Home Health one of the Top 100 Home Health Providers in the United States. The 2011 Home Care Elite is the compilation of the most successful home care providers in the United States. Now in its sixth year, this market-leading review names the top 25 percent of agencies in quality of care, process measure implementation, and financial performance. The 2011 Home Care Elite also recognizes the Top 100 and Top 500 of providers nationwide. The data for this study is based on publicly available information.
  • Riderwood achieved a low 30 day re-hospitalization rate of 10.8% (the national average for a similar Medicare population is 20 - 25%). Over the past 4 years the Riderwood rate of hospitalization has averaged 822 hospital days per thousand patients.  Medicare's rate is 2096.
  •  Riderwood's Long Term Care Facility, Renaissance Gardens, has earned a Five Star Rating from Medicare for every year of the five years that the rating process has been in place.

In addition, a total of 98% of Riderwood residents have been vaccinated for pneumonia ( the Medicare rate is 50%). Also, 84% of Riderwood residents have Advanced Directives on file (the Medicare rate is in the 30%).
The Riderwood Medical center did 3,540 same day visits in 2011, providing early intervention and easy access for residents.
