Tell us about yourself Almeda?
I had a 42 year career in nursing with the last 20 years in community health at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where I emphasized the need of exercise and good diet for a healthy lifestyle.
How long have you lived at Riderwood and where did you move from?
My husband and I moved to Riderwood nearly 5 years ago from Ann Arbor, Michigan. We have two daughters living in nearby Takoma Park. It was an easy transition for us as we became involved in the wonderful activities available here.
What do you like about Bike Riding?
Riderwood is very picturesque with rolling hills and ponds and streams. I love riding my bicycle around the lovely grounds but also use bike for the useful purpose of getting from point A to point B. I also ride to nearby shopping center which provides exercise but is also practical and useful form of transportation.
How often do you rider your bike at Riderwood (how many days a week)?
I park my bicycle in our reserved underground parking space and am on by bicycle most days. In the Spring, I have trouble riding up the hills but by fall I usually have mastered riding up them.
What do you do in the winter months?
Riderwood covers so much territory that residents get ample exercise walking through the covered walkways during the winter months. We can also work out in the fitness center.
