Riderwood to Host African-American History Quilt Show

SILVER SPRING, MD---Riderwood, the Erickson Living retirement community, will host an African-American Quilt Show on February 11th from 11am-3pm.  The event is sponsored by the resident-led Riderwood Quilt Club and the African American History Club.
 
The showcase will feature quilts utilizing African fabric and/or are inspired by African-American history.  Quilts from the past as well as new creations from residents of Riderwood will be on display.
 
Residents will be available to speak to the design and history of each quilt, and attendees can learn about the Underground Railroad code patterns.
 
The event, free and open to the public, will take place in the Chesapeake Room of the Montgomery Station Clubhouse.  Riderwood is located at 3140 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904.
 
Additionally, a documentary highlighting the inspirational history of the world renown Gee's Bend, Alabama quilters will run continuously in Maryland Hall, across from the Chesapeake Room.
