Riderwood to Host Symposium on Preventing Fraud Against Seniors on July 25th

SILVER SPRING, MD---It is said often that knowledge is power.  Nothing could be truer when it comes to protecting yourself versus scams and fraudulent behavior.  Sadly, lawbreakers often target seniors and other "vulnerable adults" in crimes ranging from telemarketing scams to identity theft.
With the proper awareness and education, though, the tools exist for you to safeguard your loved ones and assets from these crimes.
That is why Riderwood, the Erickson Living retirement community, is hosting the Symposium on Preventing Fraud Against Seniors on Friday, July 25th from 10am-3pm.  This free event will take place in Maryland Hall (Montgomery Station Clubhouse) with lunch served at noon.
Riderwood is located at 3140 Gracefield Road in Silver Spring, MD (20904).
Representatives from the Maryland Department of Aging, Montgomery County Police Department, Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection and the Maryland Chapter of AARP are scheduled to attend. 
Their topics will include general consumer fraud, internet & telemarketing scams, identity theft and financial investment cons.  These experts will provide valuable consumer protection advice and respond to questions, too.
