OVERLAND PARK, KS (August 31, 2015) – Thomas Tong, a server at Tallgrass Creek retirement community, is excited to star as a monk in the play, The Oldest Boy, now on stage through September 20 at Unicorn Theater in Overland Park, KS.

Residents from Tallgrass Creek are thrilled about his thespian success, so much so that they are organizing ongoing shuttle bus trips to the theater to see his performances.

Matt Chatfield is Tallgrass Creek's New Executive Chef

OVERLAND PARK, KS (July 13, 2015) -- Matt Chatfield has been named the new Executive Chef for Tallgrass Creek retirement community in Overland Park, KS.

Some of Chef Matt’s former positions include Executive Chef at William Jewell College, The Culinary Center of Kansas City, Brandon Woods Senior Living, and Brookridge Country Club.

He completed his Chef Apprenticeship through nationally recognized Johnson County Community College.

Chef Matt is an active member of The American Culinary Federation, and is a sitting member of the board with The Greater Kansas City Chef’s Association.

Tallgrass Creek Residents Raise More Than $26,000 to Help Their Student Scholars

OVERLAND PARK, KS (June 17, 2015) – Tallgrass Creek retirement community has celebrated the eight-member Class of 2015 Student Scholars at a recent Award Ceremony. The student workers earned four-year collegiate scholarships in the amount of $26,500 from money raised by residents.

In the previous seven years, the Tallgrass Creek Scholars Program has raised nearly $160,000, assisting 30 students to advance their collegiate careers.

The McCoys' Move from Colorado to Tallgrass Creek Brought Them Closer to Their Beloved Horses

OVERLAND PARK, KS (June 15, 2015) – When Sharon and Glenn McCoy moved from Colorado to Tallgrass Creek retirement community in Overland Park, Kansas, it brought them much closer to their two award-winning Morgan horses stabled in nearby Lenexa. OVERLAND PARK, KS (April 30, 2015) -- The Treasure Chest, an on-site resale and gift shop at Tallgrass Creek retirement community, is a year-round fundraising venture managed by residents that has raised $37,000 to support community programs.

The shop offers an assortment of linens, kitchenware, china, home decor, jewelry, furniture, artwork, and lamps. Shoppers include residents, staff, and their friends and family members.
