Practice Administrator recognized for contributions to Overland Park retirement community
Overland Park, Kans. – Tallgrass Creek, a continuing care retirement community developed and managed by Erickson Living, has named Medical Center Practice Administrator Janel Southard its Leader of the Year. Earlier this month, she was honored along with 19 other leaders, one from each of Erickson Living's communities across the country, at the company's Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland.
The Leader of the Year recognition is given to a manager or director who continually demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities and inspires, motivates and empowers his or her team members to commit to excellence in serving Tallgrass Creek residents.
As the Practice Administrator, Ms. Southard oversees the operations of the Medical Center at Tallgrass Creek, including three providers who see patients in both independent living and continuing care settings. In addition to managing the operations, scheduling and quality measures of the Medical Center, she also serves as part of the community's Executive Team.
"Janel has built a strong record of achievements during her short time at Tallgrass Creek," said Jean Landreville, Executive Director. "Her leadership has strengthened the Medical Center operations and in turn, increased the number of residents who use it as their primary care, and earned impressive Resident Satisfaction and Employee Engagement results. She is an extraordinary team player who motivates and inspires those around her to go above and beyond to serve Tallgrass Creek residents."
Prior to joining Tallgrass Creek in May 2017, Ms. Southard managed the internal medicine, family medicine and pediatric clinics at The University of Kansas Hospital at KU MedWest. She also previously held the role of practice manager of Saint Luke's Neurosurgery Clinic. She earned her bachelor of science degree in clinical psychology from The University of Kansas.
"It's an incredible honor to be named Leader of the Year at Tallgrass Creek," said Ms. Southard. "We have so many great leaders and so many wonderful things that happen here, to be recognized in this way means a lot to me. Tallgrass Creek is a very special place, and I am proud of our team's ability to provide residents with a positive experience and meaningful interaction every time they visit the Medical Center."
