Tallgrass Creek Residents Make/Deliver 20 Wood Cradles, Mattresses and Blankets to Johnson County Christmas Bureau
OVERLAND PARK,  KS (December 1, 2011) - Residents of Tallgrass Creek retirement community in Overland Park, KS, this week delivered 20 cradles built by the campus' woodworkers to the Johnson County Christmas Bureau. The cradles were filled with mattresses and blankets made by resident sewers and knitters. In addition, residents donated baby dolls for the cradles.
The donation is a holiday tradition of sorts for the nearly 300 residents of Tallgrass Creek. They and campus staff  will volunteer at the Johnson County Christmas Bureau in the coming week.
The Johnson County Christmas Bureau serves the needs of low-income families of Johnson County. Groceries, personal care items, children's clothing, adult and teen gifts, toys, hats, gloves, scarves, books and coats are made available for client selection at the annual Holiday Shop held in December. All items are new with the exception of gently worn coats and books.
The Johnson County Christmas Bureau provides the opportunity for more than 12,500 qualified clients (3,350 families) to shop by appointment and select food and gifts for the holiday season.
