Truman Library and Museum to Officially Pay Off President Truman's Delinquent 65-Year Newspaper Bill To His Retired Paperboy, Tallgrass Creek Resident George Lund, at May 23 "We're Just Wild About Harry!" Fest
 WHAT:
"We're Just Wild About HarryI'" -- a Wednesday, May 23, celebration of the Truman years by nearly 300 residents of Tallgrass Creek retirement community in Overland Park, KS. This festive event  will make history when The Truman Library and Museum officially pays off President Truman's delinquent 65-year newspaper bill - which amounts today to  $56.63 (inclusive of interest) - to resident George Lund, who was Truman's paperboy in Independence, MO.  A Truman impersonator will pay off the bill in one-dollar increments. This will prove once and for all that "The Buck Stops Here."
"We're Just Wild About Harry!" will also include the following:
An overview of the Truman presidency presented by Jim Peters, J.D., Director of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Kansas, author of the book "Arlington National Cemetery: Shrine to America's Heroes."

•  A rousing performance of Truman's campaign song "I'm Just Wild About Harry!" by   residents.
• "Eyewitness" testimonials by Tallgrass Creek residents of what it was like to live during the Truman years. Stories will include:
• Displays of memorabilia from the Truman Years.
• A Harry Truman Look-a-Like Contest.

In addition, residents will dine on the cuisine featured at the Truman White House.
