Here is a list of a few St. Louis-area organizations currently seeking


Haven House Haven House partners with 13 St. Louis-area hospitals to assist families that travel more than 25 miles to receive medical care for their children. Its mission is to provide the comfort of home and a community of support for families. Regular shift and on-call volunteers are needed to be receptionists/greeters, host families, or helpers with family fun nights. Visit

...Hoover Boys & Girls Club of St. Louis Mentor youths ages 6 to 18 by spending at least one hour a week with a child for a minimum of 13 weeks. The time can be spent talking, playing games, working on homework, or participating in club activities. Contact Debra Harris at 314-652-8300 ext.112 or

Missouri Botanical Garden Volunteers perform basic garden tasks like watering and planting, but one of the more popular positions is working at the member services desk. Shifts are 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Volunteers work at least one shift a month and receive training. Contact Jackie Juras at 314-577-5187 or

OASIS Work one-on-one with an elementary school student for an hour a week on reading and language skills. Saint Louis Art Museum Volunteer docents give tours of the museum s collection, helping visitors experience art and understand the cultures that created it. Call 314-655-5295 or e-mail

Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra Volunteers can help in four different categories: communications, fundraising, education, and membership. St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission Volunteers act as greeters, offering information to travelers at America s Center, Kiener Plaza, Forest Park, and Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Some also assist with major tradeshows and conventions. Contact Karen Meirink at 314-992-0678 or

United Way of Greater St. Louis Matches volunteers with agencies through a variety of programs. Opportunities range from tutoring to gardening.
