Why people are visiting Tallgrass Creek

By Jan Landon

THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

St. Louis residents Alfred and Rosalyn Klein wanted to get a picture of what life would be like at an Erickson community. So they hopped in their car and drove across Missouri to Tallgrass Creek in Overland Park.

"Our first impression was that it was very comfortable, very gracious, yet very modern at the same time," Mrs. Klein says. "The thing I loved most was the swimming pool. It was so open, with three glass walls, and so very light. You almost feel like you are outside."

Inside scoop

The Kleins were interested in Grant s Farm Manor, the Erickson community coming to St. Louis, but Mrs. Klein says, "I can t imagine buying anything without seeing it."

During their trip to Erickson s Tallgrass Creek, the Kleins toured model apartment homes, ate in the community s restaurant, and visited with residents. "The people who gave us the tour were extremely helpful and very friendly. They answered any questions we had," Mrs. Klein says.

The couple was impressed with the grounds, which include a stream, lots of trees, and an abundance of wildflowers. A green thumb, Mrs. Klein was pleased to see the resident gardens, where people who live at Tallgrass Creek are growing flowers and vegetables.

Arthur and Judy Kopf also traveled from St. Louis to Tallgrass Creek. They even spent the night in one of the guest apartments on campus. "We loved the area Tallgrass Creek was in," say the Kopfs. "It s so new and growing and exciting. And the people were so friendly. They were very welcoming."

Living with security

Touring an Erickson community is the best way to imagine what life will be like there, says Tallgrass Creek Director of Sales and Marketing Suzanne Cole. "The visit will be custom-tailored," Cole says. "Some want to stay hours, including meals, and others have a different schedule. We ll do whatever we can to ensure that people get to see what they want to see."

The Kopfs say, "We liked Tallgrass Creek enough that we were not going to let an opportunity pass us by." The Kleins felt the same way. Both couples joined the priority list. The priority list allows people to reserve their place in line for the apartment home of their choice at an Erickson community.
