Tallgrass Creek lowers prices

By Mark Abromaitis In hopes of offering a better lifestyle to more people, Tallgrass Creek the Erickson community in Overland Park, Kans. recently unveiled new prices for people buying its apartment homes. "We took a very hard look at our prices and made some significant changes," says Tallgrass Creek Retirement Counselor Jane McIntire. "We wanted to make our community open to as many people as possible and ensure we would work with people s budgets." As a result, people looking to buy apartment homes at Tallgrass Creek can now save thousands of dollars. Opening doors The price reductions were made after a survey revealed that a number of people were interested in living at Tallgrass Creek but believed it was out of their reach. "We are listening to what our customers were saying," McIntire says. "We took that feedback, did a lot of research, and developed new prices." So far, the new prices have been a welcome change. "A couple of dozen people have already taken advantage," she says. "It has opened up our community to a lot of people who wanted to move in but needed some added financial incentive." Taking back control Another reason people are packing up and moving to Tallgrass Creek is to get out of the housing market. "We re seeing in today s market that the longer people are waiting to move and the longer they are staying in their houses, the more equity they are losing," McIntire says. "But as soon as people move to Tallgrass Creek, they know that their nest egg will never depreciate, no matter what the markets do. They will get 100% of their investment back." Residents can also rest assured that they won t have to worry about suddenly increasing bills. People who live at Tallgrass Creek pay one monthly service package that stays fixed year-long. It covers maintenance, property taxes, utilities (except phone), access to amenities, and one meal a day. "More people are choosing Tallgrass Creek because expenses are set," she says. "There are no surprises." Hard work pays off While many organizations are having difficulty adjusting to the new economic conditions, Erickson remains the most trusted company in retirement living, continuing to meet its customers changing demands. "It s one of those situations where it pays to be the industry leader," says Tallgrass Creek Executive Director John Harned. "It gives you the ability to make adjustments and do things that your competition may not be able to."
