A win for wind project

The town of Hull, Mass., recently came closer to its goal of installing up to four offshore wind turbines. With the help of John MacLeod, who lives at Linden Ponds, the Hull Wind project received a federal grant of $951,000, a big win for those involved. Anytime a small community can get federal assistance to build a project like that, it s a good thing, says MacLeod, who is a project manager and consultant for Hull Wind. Hull Wind which intends to add to the two wind turbines already in the town has applied for funds in the past, but without luck. The amount awarded this spring will go toward further geophysical and geotechnical studies that are part of the project s predevelopment phase. MacLeod says the commission is also hoping to get more federal assistance in next year s budget.
