Ahhh! Fall at Point Lookout, Maine

Created date

August 25th, 2009
High atop Ducktrap Mountain, guests staying at the Point Lookout resort find themselves surrounded by awe-inspiring views of the mountains and the sparkling waters of the Penobscot Bay below. This was such an exciting few days, says first-time guest Marge Makson, for whom the visit was also her first trip to Maine. I knew that Maine was beautiful, but. . .with everything that s here, the combination is unbelievable. . .just heaven. Nature s finest Makson and 46 fellow travelers from Brooksby Village, an Erickson-developed community in Peabody, Mass., spent their getaway at Point Lookout exploring the area trail-blazing and nature-gazing, enjoying a windjammer cruise aboard the 86-foot schooner Appledore, and bowling at the resort s private world-class bowling alley. At night, the travelers stayed in Point Lookout s luxurious wooded cabins with screened-in porches. I sat on the porch and just took in the quiet, says Mary Chi Chi McKenna. It s beauty at its best. I understand that God wanted to rent the place, adds fellow guest John Murphy, but it was booked. To find out more about Point Lookout, call 1-800-515-3611 or visit
