After researching retirement communities in the Houston area, Norma Ballard and her husband paid a visit to her cousin at Eagle s Trace. A little more than a year later, they are not only family but neighbors. ' Steps in the right direction

"We didn t want to worry about the upkeep of the house anymore, and we knew we wanted to move somewhere," says Ballard. "We had visited my cousin and her husband a few times and really liked what we saw. Still, we looked around the area at some other places. Ultimately, we decided Eagle s Trace had everything we were looking for."

' The Ballards joined the Eagle s Trace priority list and reserved their new apartment home. After an appointment with Eagle s Trace Personal Moving Consultant Blaga Bayer, everything just seemed to fall into place.

"We were really crazy about Blaga," says Ballard. "She was a big help to us. She came to our house and provided us with information about the Erickson Realty & Moving Services program, gave us a list of recommended Realtors and movers, and supported us throughout the whole moving process."

Following Bayer s visit, the Ballards scheduled an appointment with real estate agent Michelle Hatmaker, a preferred Erickson Realty & Moving Services vendor, to begin the process of listing their four-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath house. Coincidentally, Hatmaker grew up in the same El Lago neighborhood where the Ballards lived.

"Michelle was great. She took some photos of our house, posted them on the Internet, and we had a contract within one week," says Ballard. "We were very surprised by how quickly our house sold."

The Ballards were also pleasantly surprised to recoup their moving costs. Thanks to the Move on Us program, they had the opportunity to get reimbursed for up to $2,000 in moving expenses for using Erickson Realty & Moving Services-preferred real estate professionals a savings which offset the cost of customizing their new apartment home.

"We had archways put in the den and the kitchen, granite countertops installed in the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as upgraded faucets and sinks. We also had custom closets installed, which has allowed us to maximize our storage space," says Ballard. "We re considering having a built-in desk put in the den too."

' Team effort Just five months after moving to Eagle s Trace, the Ballards are enjoying their new one bedroom with den apartment home at Eagle s Trace and credit Bayer, Hatmaker, and the Erickson Realty & Moving Services program for helping things go smoothly throughout the sale of their house and the move-in process. "I would recommend using the Erickson Realty & Moving Services program and speaking with Blaga," says Ballard. "She has a great list of professionals she can recommend. With their help, everything went as planned and worked out wonderfully for us!"
