Lillian and Joseph Schreiber didn t know what to expect from the economy when they decided to sell their house and move to Ann s Choice, the Erickson community in Bucks County, Pa. We just decided to go for it, says Mrs. Schreiber. With help from Erickson Realty & Moving Services, their house sold in one week. When Personal Moving Consultant Colleen Rosica first assessed the Schreibers house, she was impressed with the condition. The couple believed in maintaining their home and keeping it up-to-date. Three years ago, they installed a new granite kitchen. They also installed new windows, siding, and carpet a few years back. So there wasn t much that needed to be done to bring the house up to market value. It was for the real estate agent, downsizing services, and movers that the Schreibers turned to Erickson Realty & Moving Services the most. After 40 years in a house, there s a lot of accumulation, Mrs. Schreiber says. Facing the challenge of paring down their belongings, the couple found help from Erickson Realty & Moving Services through referrals to cleanout professionals, or companies that would come and take away the excess. For example, Mr. Schreiber had tools for fixing everything in the house and maintaining the lawn, and since Ann s Choice would take care of all the maintenance in their new apartment home, the tools weren t necessary. A company came and cleared them out; the Schreibers didn t have to worry about anything. The process of moving was in full swing when Mr. Schreiber took ill and ended up in the intensive care unit. While he has since recovered, at the time, the weight of everything fell on Mrs. Schreiber s shoulders. I was stressed, she says, but all of the resources Erickson Realty & Moving Services provided really helped reduce my anxiety. Ann s Choice even gave them the option of picking up their keys a week before their move-in date to ease the transition. Before the movers were scheduled to come, Mrs. Schreiber brought three boxes a day to the new apartment home and unpacked them, box by box, item by item. By the time the furniture arrived, she only had three boxes left to unpack. That made it a lot easier, she says. It worked out beautifully. Reflecting on the process, Mrs. Schreiber says, The services and resources were an enormous help. I m really happy we made the move. Realty & Moving Services
