Theresa Eichenwald, M.D., physician at the on-campus medical center, happens to be married to Hollywood s newest celebrity. Her husband, Kurt Eichenwald, pennedThe Informant, the book-turned-movie released in mid-September. This fall, the Eichenwalds hit the red carpet at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City for the film s premiere. The people living at Highland Springs recently filled up theaters to see it too. But one resident was especially excited: Elva Eichenwald Kurt s mom. Needless to say, she is just a little proud of her son. The Informant(Broadway Books, 2001) is the true story of Mark Whitacre (played by Matt Damon), an Ivy League Ph.D. who was a rising star at Archer Daniels Midland in the early 1990s. After secretly gathering video and audiotapes over several years, he exposed the company s price-fixing tactics to the FBI and became the highest-ranked executive to ever turn whistleblower in U.S. history.
