Before he packs his sleigh with gifts for good boys and girls later this month, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be paying a special visit toCedar Crest. The famous couple is scheduled to visit the community for the annual Breakfast with Santa event on December 12.

Special helpers

Cedar Crestresidents Lon and Janice Dring have been looking forward to the event since last year. We ve attended the event before, but we ll be a little more involved this year, Mr. Dring says with a hearty laugh as his belly jiggles like a bowl full of jelly. The white mustachedMr. Dring explains, I can t tell you how we ll be helping out, but let s just say we ll be there behind the scenes. According to Mrs. Dring, last year, Saint Nick himself recruited the couple to volunteer at this year s event: He actually came over to our table and asked us to help out. And you just can t say no to Santa. We thought it would be a fun thing to do. It s a great event, we love kids, and we re looking forward to being there. It s entertainment for everyone.

Breakfast with Santa

The breakfast is open to allCedar Crestresidents and their families and will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Woodland Commons Clubhouse. Tickets cost $10 for adults. Children can attend for free with a donation of winter hats, gloves, or scarves. All of the cold-weather gear the children bring is hung on our mitten tree and will be divided and donated to the nearby charities when we re done, explains Mary Turner, a member of the Special Events Committee, the group that organizes the event each year. It s all for fun and a good cause.
