A majority of the 287 participants were members of the Denver metro area who are low-income and have either limited or no health insurance. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the 9Health Fair is still going strong because it centers around connecting people together. Mostly, attendees were able to connect to health care practitioners who cared enough to volunteer their time and services to raise awareness, but some residents within Wind Crest got to know even more of their neighbors. Sandra Callahan, who lives at Wind Crest and is a full-time practicing RN, was on the event s planning committee. She helped coordinate some of the medical volunteers and supervise the blood draw area. She works at the Denver Health Medical Center and does telephone triage there, so helping with the fair was like second nature for her.
