Milton and Alice Isaacs are no strangers to entertaining. Before moving to Maris Grove in July 2009, their former home was known as The Party House. Over the years, the Isaacs hosted five weddings and countless other parties on their acre of land. The couple also owned the Crystal Ballroom, three ballrooms located in Wilmington, Del., where weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, anniversaries, and birthday parties are held regularly. At Maris Grove, the Isaacs are quickly developing a reputation as the couple who know how to throw a great party, and most of their gatherings are coordinated on a whim. Whipping up a group

I like to throw spontaneous parties, Mrs. Isaacs says. One Sunday, for example, she called her neighbors and invited them for an impromptu wine and cheese brunch. It was the first day of the season when it was warm enough for them to sit on their patio, and they wanted to share it with friends. Our neighbors were actually surprised they were the only ones we invited, Dr. Isaacs says.

Snow party

Perhaps the party the Isaacs are most well known for is the Snow Party of 2010. It was during the heavy snow in February, when blizzard after blizzard covered the area inblankets of white. The storm was so bad that the Isaacs son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter showed up on their doorstep because they had lost electricity. A healthy serving of chili in her daughter-in-law s hands, Mrs. Isaacs said, Why don t we have a snow party? By that evening, they had 25 people gathered in theirMaris Groveapartment home eating chili and other dishes that neighbors had made. Everybody brought different stuff, and we made it all work. People said it was the best party ever, Mrs. Isaacs says. The flow of this apartment really makes it comfortable for a lot of people to gather, Dr. Isaacs adds. We could easily squeeze 50 people in here.

Set up for success

The Isaacs two-bedroom, two bathroom apartment home has a den and sunroom as well as a living and dining area. The couple is especially happy that at their new apartment home, they get to continue to entertain like the best of them, only with greater benefits. We re meeting so many new people, people we probably never would have met had we not moved here, Mrs. Isaacs says. They enjoy the fact that there s always someone new to invite to their table. The Isaacs recently hosted another party on Memorial Day, an intimate one where 18 of their family members gathered to eat Mrs. Isaacs barbecue chicken wings on their patio.

The Patterson: perfect place for a party

EveryMaris GroveorAnn s Choiceapartment home fits different personalities, and the Patterson is the perfect floor plan for people who love to entertain. The open layoutcreates a natural flow: the living/dining room combination opens into the kitchen and sunroom areas, the kitchen offers ample storage space in its many cabinets, and there s also room to both prepare and serve on the deep countertops. People who call the Patterson home really like the floor plan, saysMaris Grove sDirector of Sales Pam Matschat. Many people use the sunroom as a morning room and the second bedroom as their den area. With its two bedrooms, the Patterson can accommodate overnight guests, and the extra full bathroom allows guests (and their hosts) complete privacy. Each apartment home can be decorated to fit each resident no matter what his/her taste, and the community s Custom Interiors department is always happy to help.
