Once I made up my mind to move, I was ready, says Ledlie, a retired intellectual property attorney for Dow Chemical. Ledlie moved to the Houston retirement community on January 21, 2010, exactly one month after placing his deposit. And although Ledlie is no stranger to relocating his work took him across the United States and abroad the moving process seemed daunting at first. The company moved me a lot, says Ledlie, but they made all the arrangements. They were paying me to do my job, not to focus on the details of moving. Besides that, my wife knew where she wanted the furniture to go and enjoyed getting things settled. Now that she s gone, I don t have anyone to do that anymore. Enter Erickson Realty & Moving Services, a complimentary program available to future residents. Ledlie turned to Blaga Bayer, personal moving consultant at Eagle s Trace, for assistance.

Along for the ride

Blaga came to my home in Columbia Lakes and I told her which pieces of furniture I wanted to keep, says Ledlie. She told me what would fit and we worked from there. Since Ledlie was giving his home to his stepson, there was no real estate transaction to delay the process. Bayer also referred Ledlie to a senior move manager to help work out the details of moving. The manager Blaga recommended was well worth it, says Ledlie. She packed up my things in Columbia Lakes, unpacked them at Eagle s Trace, and the place was livable in one day. I was just along for the ride.

Ledlie even took a break from moving to attend an annual family gathering at his eldest granddaughter s home in Tomball. It is an event that we look forward to all year, says Ledlie. All my children and grandchildren get together for the weekend. We play golf and enjoy spending time with each other. And while Ledlie is close to his children and grandchildren, the swiftness of his move caught them off guard. We have a family website that helps us keep in touch, he says. I posted my new address and phone number to the website and it went out to everyone. One granddaughter called in tears because she thought I was moving to an old folks home. Eagle s Trace is anything but. Everyone I ve met here is absolutely marvelous. I have a great feeling about this place.
