While the holidays may seem overwhelming to many, those who live at Seabrook, an Erickson Living community in Tinton Falls, N.J., have it easy, and many say they enjoy the holidays more now than ever. We re a one-stop shop, says Seabrook Catering Manager Beverley Smack. Whether you re planning to entertain in your apartment, traveling to visit friends or family, or utilizing an event room on campus, the catering department can fulfill all your needs. Smack has been providing gift baskets, baked goods, and holiday parties to Seabrook residents for the past six years. Not surprisingly, she says, December is the department s busiest month of the year. People here throw block parties; buy gift baskets for their family members, friends, and neighbors; and have catered New Year s Eve parties, Smack says. Our services are very convenient for them because we are right here on campus. Gift baskets can include cookies, pretzels, snack mix, nuts, and teas; fresh fruit, wine, and cider; or people can customize their own basket. Fresh-baked goods include apple, cherry, and pecan pies; cheesecake (including sugar free); and assorted cookies and biscotti. A lot of residents take the baskets to their family members or buy them for friends who live at Seabrook, Smack says.

Local outlet shopping

For more gift-giving variety, those living at Seabrook don t have to travel far. The Jersey Shore Premium Outlets are just one mile down the road, and Seabrook s complimentary busses shuttle shoppers there numerous times throughout the week. High-end stores like Michael Kors, Burberry, Cole Hann, and Kate Spade mingle with favorites like J.Crew, Nike, Chico s, and Calvin Klein. Kids shops include Carter s, The Children s Place, Crewcuts, and Gymboree, among others. Find kitchen and home items for a newlywed couple at the new Waterford Crystal store and Le Creuset. The Jersey Shore Premium Outlets include more than 120 stores, so you re sure to find something for everyone on your list. After shopping, stop for lunch at Nathan s Famous, Villa Fresh Italian Kitchen, Asian Chao, or take the bus home to enjoy a snack in one of Seabrook s many restaurants. We stopped [at the outlets] just to get a Nathan s hotdog, says Pat Hann as she and her sister, Marie Cook, waited for the shuttle bus. Cook says the outlets aren t just great for gift shopping My daughter loves it when she visits!

Party trays

With less time gift shopping and wrapping, Seabrook neighbors have more time to celebrate the holidays. Various community clubs and groups have get-togethers and holiday parties, for which they may order sandwich trays or cheese and crackers. For New Year s Eve 2009, people reserved tables in the on-site restaurants to party with neighbors and watch the ball drop. We decorated the tables and delivered [preordered] food to each table, Smack says. Throughout the year, Seabrook s restaurants host other dining events, the most popular being a monthly lobster dinner. People here love lobster, says Smack. We have folks who never miss an event. Seabrook neighbors who would like to order catering, holiday gift baskets, or baked goods may call 732-643-2000 ext. 5280 or ext. 5285.
