One simple move

What made John and Anne Fry s move to Fox Run such a simple process? The people Fox Run sent out, says Mrs. Fry. From Mary Wolfe to the real estate professional to the moving company manager, everybody was accommodating in a way that s most unusual in today s society. The Frys settled into their two-bedroom, one-bath apartment home at Fox Run on Dec. 30, 2009, less than three months after they d finalized their decision to move from Plymouth. And yes, they sold her house and moved during the winter. We had made a few visits and done paperwork, but for some of that they sent people to our place, Mrs. Fry says. We re quite a little distance from Fox Run, so that made it so convenient.

Smoothing the way

Mary Wolfe, with Erickson Realty and Moving Services, is Fox Run s personal moving consultant. She started smoothing the way for the Frys by arranging for agents from her list of recommended real estate professionals to visit the couple. She recommended they talk with each to learn whom they felt comfortable with, then select their favorite. Mary first sent Michelle Michael with RE/MAX Classic, and we liked her so much she was so knowledgeable that we told Mary not to send anyone else, Mrs. Fry says. She describes herself and her husband as minimalists and says she s downsized throughout their life together. But if she hadn t already been doing that, an experience some years ago would have motivated her to begin. My husband and I had cleaned out his 98-year-old grandmother s house when she died and she never threw away a thing, says Mrs. Fry. I determined I would not do that to my children. In fact, all the couple had to do before their move was take down family pictures.

Sold at asking price

After their real estate agent showed them comparable sales prices for the Plymouth area, we decided on a very realistic price, and we stayed with it, says Mrs. Fry. The condo sold in eight days. The first person who looked at our place bought it at our price; we didn t have to come down. The Frys and their children packed their furnishings, and Wolf-recommended Professional Movers transported their goods. Because they d used a Fox Run-recommended real estate agent, they were reimbursed for some of their moving costs. The movers loaded our things in the morning and delivered them to the apartment in the afternoon, Mrs. Fry says. It all went so beautifully. There wasn t any stress on our part, and we slept in our apartment that night. It was cold and there was snow on the ground, but we felt cozy and comfortable once we made it here. A December move meant the campus was dressed in holiday regalia, and fires burned in the clubhouse fireplaces. That was lovely and a very nice warm feeling, says Mrs. Fry. The hospitality of their hallway neighbors invitations to dinner and to call with questions or concerns also made them feel right at home. Mrs. Fry is still surprised that Fox Run has so few rules. I don t know what I expected maybe I had been comparing it to our condo community, but it s such a comfortable, easy place. And the staff is so accommodating. It s exceeded our expectations.
