‘My house sold three times!’

Created date

November 22nd, 2011

When Loretta Hartford sold her house three times for her asking price, she knew she had made the right decision. Last winter, Loretta was planning her move from Nutley to Cedar Crest. The Erickson Living community in Pompton Plains, N.J., provides complimentary real estate services to help residents sell their homes and move with ease. For Loretta, Erickson Realty and Moving Services did its job and more.

What market woes?

Margeret Semezko, personal moving consultant for Erickson Realty and Moving Services, helps coordinate all the pieces of a house sale and move, making the process simpler for those moving to Cedar Crest. In Loretta s case, Semezko first recommended Prudential s Rick Lodato from Cedar Crest s list of trusted real estate agents. My house sold quickly, and it sold three times! Loretta says. Lodato marketed her house with a slideshow of photos on the Internet and helped her make smart decisions when the first two buyers developed personal problems that would delay the sale. In the end, Loretta happily got the asking price for her house from a third buyer. With her house sold, Loretta could concentrate on moving Semezko s specialty. Semezko provided a floor plan of Loretta s new two-bedroom apartment home and helped her decide what belongings to bring, what to donate, and what to toss. An avid reader who grew up with dreams of becoming a librarian, Loretta s large collection of books found a home at Cedar Crest all over the community, in fact. I donated a lot of books to the Cedar Crest libraries before I even moved, she says. The community has three libraries managed by resident volunteers. The rest of her books are steadily finding their way out of boxes and onto bookshelves in her home. When she s not reading or unpacking her books, Loretta takes Elderhostel classes at Cedar Crest five this fall. She s met many friends, especially at dinner in the community s restaurants, but weekends she spends with her life partner, Tom, who also lives at Cedar Crest and was a catalyst to her moving there. As an added bonus, her daughter lives in nearby Wayne.
