It’s all about fun now

Sherry and Wade Melton recently moved to Wind Crest, an Erickson Living community in Highlands Ranch, Colo., from Castle Rock, Colo. They say they made the move for two reasons the view and to have fun. They love their apartment home at Wind Crest and they re deeply integrated in the community.

Move first, sell after

Sherry and Wade decided to move to Wind Crest before they sold their house using the help of Erickson Realty and Moving Services, and it took just two weeks to downsize, pack, and move. A factor in moving first was the frustration of the constant inconvenience of having to show the house while living in it. Whenever the phone rang, Sherry had to make the house resemble a model home. People expect the whole HGTV look when they view a house, she says. With no mortgage to worry about, the couple decided to move first and sell later. They were also eager to get settled before winter set in and knew Erickson Realty and Moving Services would make it happen. The Meltons moved out one day, and Home Stage Coach, one of the recommended vendors of Erickson Realty and Moving Services, came in the next to stage the house. It was all pretty seamless, Sherry says. The Meltons continued to downsize even after moving to Wind Crest. What didn t go to their children and grandchildren went to friends who run a mission in Mexico and to Wind Crest s Treasure Chest store.

New adventures

The Meltons are ecstatic they made the move. All of my life up to this point has been driven by other things, Sherry says. Career, family, and volunteering was where she put her efforts. Now, it s about Sherry and Wade, each doing what they want to do when they want to do it. Now, it s all about having fun.
