When Donna Kennedy decided to put her four-bedroom Northville, Mich., house on the market, she expected the process of selling the property to take at least several months. To her surprise and delight, her house sold in just three days. Donna was planning to move to Fox Run, an Erickson Living community in Novi, Mich. As a prospective Fox Run resident, she was able to take advantage of Erickson Realty and Moving Services, a free program through which new community members can access a suite of services from real estate agent referrals and moving company recommendations to help with floor planning and interior decorating. Fox Run Personal Moving Consultant Mary Wolfe referred Donna to a real estate agent who had experience in the Michigan real estate market and who had successfully helped other Fox Run residents sell their houses. Choosing the right real estate agent paid off in a big way for Donna. I was prepared for a long wait, but my house sold in a weekend, she says. And I got the price I was asking for. Her moving day was also stress-free thanks to the Erickson Living-recommended moving company she hired. Donna says: They came in here and packed everything up, and they wouldn t let us touch anything.

Right size for worry-free retirement

Donna had been living in her two-story Northville house for 50 years, so, of course, the decision to sell was a complex one. However, she says she no longer needed all of that space and having to go up and down the stairs on a daily basis irritated her arthritis. When she moved to Fox Run, Donna chose a one-bedroom, Fremont-style apartment home that features a large eat-in kitchen and a spacious living area. She says she has exactly the amount of space she wants in her new home, and she particularly enjoys her big kitchen. I m very happy and very comfortable here, she says.
